Forming Partnerships
University and school partnerships take time and commitment to ensure students are obtaining the necessary resources for a successful educational experience. The UC Davis Educational Talent Search (ETS) programs staff serve as a bridge to assist students, their families, and ETS schools by visiting the school site on a weekly basis. For instance, an ETS counselor visit a school during a set day and provide workshops for students and provide individual personal and academic assessments. This weekly collaboration allows students to receive a structured educational curriculum.
ETS Counselors attend yearly conferences to obtain updates on college requirements, financial aid guidelines, and college entrance exams. Through workshops and individual advising, the ETS counselors share this information with their students, thus improving their chances for success. ETS counselors also share information about study skills, motivation and values clarification. An ETS counselor will individually review with each student their transcript. This helps the student to understand in which areas he or she needs to improve and thus helps the student to progress in their studies.
ETS Staff can provide undergraduate admission presentations for the entire senior class and other workshops that may pertain to seniors.
Program Expectation
The ETS program expects ETS participants to succeed in school and in class. All students must maintain a GPA higher than 2.0 and have an average attendance record at school and attend at least one workshop per month. The ETS program at UC Davis is committed to helping empower students with knowledge and personal strength for them to fulfill their goals.
School Support
Since ETS counselors visit schools weekly, school administrators can help guarantee success for students and their families by providing classrooms for workshops and access to students class schedules and general counseling office support.
