ETS Eligibility Requirements
So you want to join ETS? Here are the steps to joining and the requirements for acceptance.
Requirements
The UC Davis Educational Talent Search (ETS) program is offered at no cost to students who meet the following requirements:
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- First-generation college-bound student (neither parent has completed a bachelors degree)
- Student must attend a participating middle school or high school where ETS services are provided
- Maintain a grade point average of 2.0 or higher
- Submit a completed ETS application
- Be between the ages of 11-27
- Two-thirds of ETS participants must meet low-income guidelines
Upon receiving a student's application, the ETS staff reviews the information and determines if he or she is eligible to participate in the program. Through the United States Department of Education, the federal government allocates funding for all TRIO programs in the nation. Students must meet the above requirements for acceptance.
Once the student's application is complete, program counselors will meet with the student to complete informal interviews to discuss career and educational plans. Once these are complete, the student will receive notification and a certificate for official entrance to the program.
ETS requires that students be dedicated to their educational goals, work to maintain or raise their GPA, attend at least 80% of the ETS workshops at schools, and exemplify a positive attitude at all ETS related activities.
